Australia Hit by Another Injury – Tolu Latu Out

on

Tolu LatuAustralia was dealt another blow to the front row, as Tolu Latu is the third hooker on the team to be sidelined with an injury.

Said Fainga’a the experienced hooker with the Reds was called up to the Wallabies to replace Latu after the hooker broke his arm during a club game in Sydney this past weekend.

Ewen McKenzie’s team has already lost two of the most senior hookers in Australia – Tatafu Polota-Nau and Stephen Moore – ahead of the opening on Saturday of the Rugby Championship match in Sydney against New Zealand.

Nevertheless, with Fainga’a they will have a talented replacement. Although he is a third-choice at the position, he carries many more Test caps at 29 than the combined total of other players that are ahead of him.

It is expected that Nathan Charles will start in the first match he has played in the Bledisloe Cup, having had only two caps from the bench during the June series versus France. At the same time, James Hanson only has one cap and that dates back two years.

Despite the pair’s lack of experience on the international stage, prop Sekope Kepu has confidence that both Hanson and Charles will be up to the task of taking on the All Blacks.

Kepu told reporters it was not like you are taking players who have not played at the level of Super Rugby. Hanson and Charles have played massive amounts of matches during this year and they have played extremely well, added Kepu

Now it is their opportunity to shine in the spotlight for their country and show the All Blacks what they are made of, said Kepu.

Kepu concluded by saying that he had no doubt the pair were looking forward to taking advantage of their opportunity in Sydney and enjoying the entire occasion.
