New Orleans Saints Super Bowl victory, most watched in TV history!
The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl XLIV game Sunday, was the most watched television show in American history, toppling the 27 year reign of the series finale of M*A*S*H.
There were approximately 106.5 million people that watched Sundays game according to Nielson Co., who tracks household veiwership. M*A*S*H had held a record of 105.97 million viewers since 1983.
Alan Alda (Hawkeye Pierce of M*A*S*H) said "If they broke our record, I'm happy for New Orleans and I hope it gives even more to cheer about to a city I love,"
Though people will still argue that M*A*S*H didn't have nearly as many people per capita, you have to keep in mind there are now hundred of channels available now. So when you consider that M*A*S*H played on one of only three channels most households caught at the time, the Super Bowls numbers are even more impressive.
