Cleveland Cavaliers Andrew Wiggins Addresses Trade Rumors

Cleveland CavaliersCleveland Cavaliers rookie, and number 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft, Andrew Wiggins has addressed the trade rumors that have followed him virtually since Lebron James made the announcement of his return to Cleveland.

Wiggins’ name has been the key component in a potential deal that would send Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Kevin Love to the Cavaliers. The cost being last year’s number 1 overall Anthony Bennett, a future 1st round pick, and of course Wiggins.

Wiggins had this to say about a potential trade, “I just want to play for a team that wants me. So whichever team wants me I’ll play for.” Wiggins made this statement to SportsCenter from Tarrytown, New York while at a photo shoot for Panini Trading Cards.

“At the end of the day you have to remember that the NBA is a business before anything. I’m a rookie. I really don’t have too much say,” Wiggins said.

The effects of this deal would, in the simplest terms, make Cleveland the likely favorite to win the NBA Championship this season by adding the All-Star Kevin Love to a roster that now includes the best player in the NBA Lebron James and talented, young point guard Kyrie Irving.

The deal would also be a good one for the Timberwolves, giving them a potential young superstar in Andrew Wiggins, and also providing more young talent in Bennett, and a future 1st rounder.

While the addition of all the young talent for Minnesota probably won’t vault them into contention in an always tough Western Conference, it will be a strong 1st step in a the rebuilding process for the Timberwolves.

Although the trade can’t be finalized until August 23rd at the earliest, it is looking very likely this trade will go through after the waiting period after Wiggins’ rookie contract signing expires.
