David Price TigersLeft handed pitcher David Price is excited to join his new team, the Detroit Tigers, after being dealt by the Tampa Bay Rays shortly before the July 31st trade deadline.

Price will be a part of a rotation that includes fellow Cy Young award winners Justin Verlande and Max Scherzer, along with perennial All Star and former triple crown Winner Miguel Cabrera.

“Walking in the clubhouse today was like an All-Star Game. All the players I’ve seen over the years,” Price said.

The Tigers, who currently lead the AL Central, have won their division the last 3 years, and this year hope to win their first since 1984.

When Price was dealt, he had an 11-8 record, a 3.11 ERA, and a major league best 189 strikeouts. Price, acquired due to a 3 team deal, is set to make his first start with his new team Tuesday, against a team he is all to familiar with, the New York Yankees.

Leading up to the trade deadline, Price knew that there was a very good chance that he would be traded by Rays. Price will be a free agent following the 2015 season, and the Rays who must always be concerned about team finances, would more than likely not be able to resign the All Star due to the financial constraints the team faces.

The addition of Price to an already incredible Tigers rotation gives them, arguably, the best rotation in the major leagues. The Tigers rotation, along with their solid offense, gives them great hopes to continue playing baseball deep into October and bring home a World Series championship, and with the team they’ve assembled, it’s easy to say they have a better shot than most.
