Delaware vs Pittsburgh Preview

on

Pittsburgh Panthers
The Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens are set to match up with the Pittsburgh Panthers in their first games of the season on Saturday. Delaware finished last season with a 7-5 record overall and finishing 4-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference, while Pittsburgh finished with a 7-6 overall record, finishing with a 3-5 record in their conference, finishing 1-2 against teams in the top 25.

-Keys for Appalachian State Mountaineers:

Pittsburgh is looking to emerge as a legitimate challenge within the ACC Coastal Division and is looking to break in a new quarterback after Tom Savage, drafted in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, who racked up 2,958 yards in the air last year. The Panthers will have their leading rusher and receiver returning for the 2014 campaign.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens are an FCS school in Division 1 NCAA sports, and have had a history of success in their football program over the years, winning their most recent FCS title in 2003, and have a pretty strong fan base, it is recognized as one of the strongest in the FCS.

As much as everybody loves an upset, it’s not going to happen this game. While Pittsburgh is by no means an unstoppable powerhouse, able to simply overlook a team like Delaware, the level of talent at Pittsburgh is higher than that of Delaware. In addition, with Pittsburgh recently joining the ACC, the Panthers are still playing to earn respect in the ACC and aren’t going to take Delaware lightly.

Pittsburgh will beat Delaware in Saturday’s game in a relatively close contest, I have Pittsburgh beating the Fightin’ Blue Hens 27-14 in Saturday’s contest, earning them their 1st win of the season before they go face Boston College in Alumni Stadium to open their ACC schedule.
