Eastern Michigan

The Morgan State Bears are set to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday as both teams will open their 2014 seasons when the ball is kicked off to get the game going.

The Bears, who play in the FCS subdivision of division 1 schools finished last season with an overall record of 5-7. The Bears accumulated all 5 of those wins in the 8 games they played against the remainder of the MEAC conference.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles suffered a terrible season last season, winning only 2 of the 12 games they played last year, as well as only going 1-7 within the MAC conference of the FBS subdivision. Eastern Michigan also lost the only contest they had against the top 25..

The Bears are looking to improve significantly on their 2013 season as they hope to assert themselves as a strong team within the MEAC, as well as become a legitimate contender for a title within the FCS. A win over the Eastern michigan Eagles will give the Bears a decent stepping stone from which to launch their 2014 campaign.

The Eagles are also looking to improve upon their season as they hope to become a legitimate contender within the MAC, but in order to do that they will have to improve substantially. The Eagles finished ranked 114th in overall scoring offense last season, managing to score only a meager 18.8 points per game. Their defense was the second worst in the FBS last season, ranked 124th overall in scoring defense as they allowed an incredible 45.2 points per game.

While both teams certainly want the win. Just the general struggles on both sides of the ball for the Eastern Michigan Eagles is making it incredibly hard to consider them winning likely, but the Bears aren’t much better.

The Bears will take this one in somewhat of a shootout 42-31.
