Nebraska
The Florida Atlantic University Owls are set to open the 2014 season on Saturday against the Nebraska Cornhuskers as both teams are aiming to open up the season with a victory to get the season underway. The Owls come into this season after finishing the last one with an overall record of 6-6 while also finishing with a .500 record of 4-4 within the Conference USA. The Owls also lost the only game that they played against top 25 level competition last season. The Cornhuskers finished last season with a record or 9-4 which includes a record of 5-3 from within the Big 10 Conference. The Cornhuskers did finish the season winless against teams ranked in the top 25 in the 2 games that they played against competition of that level.

The Owls come into this season looking to improve on their record in both the Conference USA, and the FBS as a whole. Last year, FAU ended up ranking 79th in overall scoring offense by averaging 26.4 points per game. The Owls also ended last season ranked at 26th overall by allowing an average of 22.3 points against them per game. The Owls will need to improve offensively if they hope to improve their record this year.

Nebraska is also looking to improve upon their performance from last year, as they hope to truly contend within the Big 10 conference and separate themselves from the middle of the pack. The Cornhuskers finished last season ranked 49th overall in offensive scoring as they averaged putting 31.9 points per game on the board. The Cornhuskers also finished 50th overall in points allowed, giving up an average 24.8 points per game. If the Cornhuskers hope to improve within the conference, they will need to improve on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball.

Cornhuskers win this game by a score of 34-10.
