Hoosier vs Indiana State preview

on

Indiana
The Indiana Hoosiers are taking on in-state FCS team the Indiana State Sycamores to open the 2014 college football season for both teams, as both teams attempt to start the season off with a W in the win column. -Keys for Appalachian State Mountaineers:

Indiana comes into the contest with an 5-7 overall record, and a record of 3-8 within the tough Big Ten Conference. Indiana State playing out of the MVFC, the same FCS conference as last seasons FCS champions North Dakota State, will open this season coming off an atrocious 1-11 season.

This game is set to give the Hoosiers a gratifying win over the Sycamores, and help get Indiana off to a better start this season as they hope to improve their record within the conference and become a genuine threat to other teams within the Big 10. Indiana had one of the better scoring offenses in the FBS, finishing the season ranked 17th. Their issue came defensively, where they ranked 117th in FBS.

The only way to describe the Sycamores last season is atrocious. Winning only 1 game on the year, they are going into this game as heavy underdogs, and rightfully so. Indiana State would like nothing better, however, than to one up the FBS Hoosiers, and assert themselves as a potential threat within the FCS in pursuit of a championship.

Indiana State may be looking to pull off an upset over the big boy in state school, but that is just not going to happen. Indiana’s offense still has enough fire power to make easy work of their FCS opponent, and should overcome them with relative ease before having to prepare for Bowling Green the next week.

I predict that the Hoosiers will run away with this one, 48-10, in a landslide victory.
