Liberty Flames v North Carolina Preview

on

North Carolina

The Liberty Flames are set to begin the 2014 football season on Saturday when they go to Kenan Stadium to face off against the North Carolina Tar Heels as both teams are looking to begin the season with a victory

The Flames are coming into the 2014 season after finishing the 2013 season with an overall record of 8-4, while also accumulating a record of 4-1 within the Big South Conference of the FCS football subdivision. The Tar Heels come into the season with a ranking of 23 in the FBS after finishing the 2013 campaign with a record of 7-6, winning 4 of the 8 games that the team played within the ACC. The Tar Heels did lose every game that the team played against the top 25 teams last year.

The Flames are looking to improve upon their 8-4 record this season and join the likes of the elite within the Big South Conference, as well as become true contenders for the FCS championship. If the Flames manage to beat the Tar Heels in the season opener this year, it will be a huge boost to the team as they hope to improve this year.

The Tar Heels are also looking to improve on the season that they had last year as they hope prove that they are worthy of starting the season ranked in the top 25, and perhaps improve in the ranking this season. Last year, the Tar Heels finished the season ranking 44th in overall scoring offense, scoring an average of 32.7 points per game. The Tar Heels also ranked 43rd overall last season in points allowed, allowing an average of 24.5 points per game.

The Tar Heels will be able to overcome the Liberty Flames at home when they open the season Saturday, winning the game by a score of 35-10.
