Marshall vs Miami (OH) Preview

on

MarshallThe Marshall thundering Heard are set to open their 2014 season against the Miami (OH) Redhawks as both teams look to get the season underway by putting a W in the win column.

Marshall played to a 10 and 4 overall record last season while also winning 7 of the 8 games they played within the FBS subdivision’s Conference USA, but it should be noted Marshall didn’t face any top 25 competition.

The Redhawks had an abysmal season, finishing the year without a single victory within the MAC, or in their overall play. The Redhawks enter this year after failing to get even a single win last season.

The Thundering Herd put up a strong offense last season, finishing 8th overall in scoring offense last season, scoring an average of 42.1 points per game last season. They also had the 32nd ranked scoring defense, only allowing 22.9 points per game. The combination of good offense and defense, helped lead the Herd to success last season.

The Redhawks on the other hand finished dead last in the FBS scoring offense rankings at 125th, scoring an average of just 9.8 points per game in 2013. Their defense wasn’t much better ranking 108th in scoring defense allowing 35.7 points per game. They were the antithesis of Marshall, with poor defense and a worse offense explaining their terrible record.

While Miami of Ohio would love to get a win in the opening game of the season, or any win for that matter, but they are likely going to have to try and get that win in another week.

I don’t see Miami (OH) pulling off any upset this week and the Marshall Thundering Herd should get their way to a relatively easy victory.

This one will end in a blowout, with Marshall winning 48-10 over the Redhawks.
