NFL: Saints vs Falcons Preview

on

saints vs falconsThe New Orleans Saints are set to travel to Atlanta to open the season on Sunday for a division game against the Atlanta Falcons, that will prove to be important as both teams will need a strong performance in the division to make it into the payoffs.

The New Orleans Saints, once again, enter the season as favorites to win the NFC South, as the high powered Saints offense, led by the elite Drew Brees, and head coach Sean Payton, looks to drive the Saints back into the playoffs, as the squad is looking to compete for another Superbowl championship this year. The Saints, who always enjoy a strong offense, will also look to their defense this year to help shut down the Falcons, as well as division foes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers. The Saints’ biggest competition is likely to come from the Falcons, but it’s hard to count out an improved Tampa Bay team.

The Falcons, on the other hand, are looking to rebound after a less than stellar 2013 campaign in which they completely missed the playoffs, as the Saints and Cam Newton led Panthers fought for the division title. The Falcons are hoping for the talents of Matt Ryan to help lead them back into the playoffs, and they hope to recapture some of the success they have enjoyed at home during Matt Ryan’s tenure as there.

The line of the game is set at New Orleans -3, and the over/under is set at 52.5 for the matchup.

In a game between two offense that are pretty high powered, it comes down to the skill of the quarterback, and the Saints unquestioningly have the advantage. Brees will lead the Saints to victory over Atlanta 38-31, and start the season off with a victory.
