Odell Beckham JrNew York Giants first round pick, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has not yet been able to participate in the teams training camp practices due to a nagging hamstring injury.

Giant’s head coach Tom Coughlin has made it clear that he is frustrated that Beckham has been unable to participate in training camp, and the rookie wide out met with the coach recently to ensure to Coughlin that the fact that he isn’t out practicing is frustrating to Beckham as well.

“I’m new and we don’t know each other that well yet, and your first impression is one that lasts forever. So you don’t ever want to leave a bad impression, but at the same time trying to reassure him how hard it is for me not to be practicing,” Beckham said.

After already missing minicamp, Beckham injured his hamstring in the first training camp practice after getting tangled up with corner back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and hasn’t been able to practice since.

The injury has not been found to be more severe than was originally thought. The injury is just, “Just heavy inflammation and blood in the hamstring,” according to Beckham. He continued, “So the trainers are just taking it day by day to see what happens. It’s up to them right now and for however long it’s going to be.”

Beckham was drafted in hopes of him making an immediate impact in both the receiving and return games by providing valuable speed and helping spread the defense for QB Eli Manning.

While Beckham is unable to be out on the field running drills, he is still catching passes from the JUGS machine, fielding punts, and during drills standing by the coaches trying to learn as much of the Giants offense as he can.

Beckham will miss the Giants first preseason game against Buffalo on Sunday in Canton, but hopes to play in more than one of the teams remaining 4 preseason games.
