Rams Michael Sam Thinks He Will Make The Team

Michael SamSt. Louis Rams defensive end Michael Sam was brimming with confidence after recording six tackles in the teams final preseason game, a 14-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, that he will be on the final roaster when the Rams make their roster decisions.

In the team’s four preseason games, Sam finished with 11 tackles and three sacks.

“You know what, it’s not going to be like the draft,” Sam said. “I’m very confident that I’m going to sleep really well tonight and I’m very confident I’m going to be on a team, the Rams or any other team in the NFL.” Sam the first openly gay player in the NFL , drew praise form Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher, as he had thought the preseason.

“I believe he can play in this league,” Fisher said after the game.

The deadline for roster cuts is Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. Most teams traditionally make cuts before the deadline The Rams have until then to trim their roster from 75 to 53 players. The loss of quarterback Sam Bradford leaves the Rams with tough decisions at QB.

Austin Davis is the No. 2 behind Shaun Hill for now, but the Rams will keep their eyes open for a veteran to add experience. The Rams open their season at home against the Minnesota Vikings
