Rob Gronkowski Cleared For New England Patriots Camp

on

New England PatriotsThe New England Patriots and Head Coach Bill Belichick announced that tight end Rob Gronkowski is ready to go less than eight months after suffering a torn ACL. Gronkowski will not be placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of camp as was once feared.

“Rob’s always worked hard,” Belichick said. “He worked hard as a rookie. When he’s here. I can’t speak to when he’s not here. It’s good to see all the players out there. And the ones that aren’t out there that are working to get back, we’re looking forward to getting them back.”

Gronkowski has been plagued by injuries the last two seasons, playing just seven games last year. In the past two seasons, Gronkowski has played in only 18 games. Earlier this week Gronkowski expressed optimism at returning for 2014 “I’m planning on playing the whole season this year,” said Gronkowski

It’s likely that the Patriots coaching staff will not push him early in camp to get him 100% ready for the season opener.

Veteran players officially report to Patriots training camp Wednesday, and the first practice is tomorrow.
