Samford vs TCU Preview

The Samford Bulldogs are set to open up their college football season with the TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday as both teams are looking to open the season up with a victory

The Bulldogs finished the 2013 season with a record of 8-5, winning 6 of 8 games that they played within the Southern conference of the FCS subdivision. The Horned Frogs are coming off a rough season in which they finished with a record of 4-8, finishing with 2 wins in the 9 games they played within the Big 12 Conference.

The Bulldogs are looking to continue the success they enjoyed within the Southern Conference last season and within the FCS as they hope to continue to emerge as a prominent force within the FCS. Beating the Horned Frogs would be a good starting point for the Bulldogs, and a sign that will indicate that Samford will continue to be a team to be reckoned with in the FCS.

The TCU Horned Frogs are looking to bounce back from a rough season last year that saw them drop from the prominence they had enjoyed for the last few years. The Horned Frogs did not have a strong offensive season as they finished the season ranked 89th overall in scoring offense, scored an average of 25.1 points per game. As far as rankings go, the Horned Frogs did perform better on the defensive side of the ball, finishing the season ranked 54th overall in scoring defense, holding teams to an average of 25.3 points per game on the year.

While TCU is looking to bounce back from their rough season last year, Samford is not going to be an easy game by any means. While the Bulldogs are now pushover, they aren’t a favorite. That said, the Bulldogs will have the edge in Saturdays game, picking up the upset 24-14.
