San Diego State

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are set to face off against the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday as both teams prepare to kick off the college football season this year as they both strive to open the year with a opening win

Northern Arizona finished the 2013 season with a record of 9-3, also winning 7 of the 8 games that they played within the Big Sky conference of the FCS subdivision. The Aztecs, on the other hand, finished the 2013 campaign with an 8-5 record and completed their conference schedule with a record of 6-2 in the Mountain West conference of the FBS subdivision. In addition, the Aztecs lost both games that they played against the FBS top 25.

Northern Arizona is looking to improve on their already impressive last season, continuing to assert themselves as a dominant team in the Big Sky conference and improve their standing in the FCS as they pursue a championship. If the lumberjacks take on, and beat the Aztecs, that will be a solid beginning to the 2014 campaign as they hope to continue pursuing greatness within the FCS.

The Aztecs are also looking to continue to improve, and record a better record than they posted last year. The Aztecs did enjoy some success offensively last season, as they finished the season ranked 6oth in overall scoring offense by scoring an average of 29.8 points per game. The Aztecs did struggle some on the defensive side of the ball, ranking 93rd overall last season in points allowed, as they gave up an average of 31.7 points per game.

The Aztecs are favored to win this game, but it should be a pretty competitive game nonetheless. Northern Arizona would love to pull off the upset, but the Aztecs will overcome th Lumberjacks, winning 24-17.
