Kansas StateThe Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks are set to kickoff the 2014 college football season on Saturday when they visit Bill Snyder Family Stadium to take on the Kansas State Wildcats as both squads look to earn the all important 1st win of the year.

The Lumberjacks finished last season with an overall record of 3-9, finishing with a record of 1 win and 6 losses within the Southland Conference of the FCS subdivision. The Wildcats, on the other hand, come into this season ranked number 20 in the country after finishing the 2013 season with a record of 8-5. The Wildcats also finished 5-4 within the Big 12. The wildcats also finished the season with 1 victory and 3 losses in games played against the top 25.

The Lumberjacks are hoping to improve from their less than stellar performance in 2013 as they strive to improve their positioning within the Southland conference and become a force within the FCS. A victory over the ranked Wildcats would provide an incredible boost to the team in their effort to earn their reputation within the conference and subdivision.

The Wildcats are entering this season in ranked 20th overall in the country as they hope to separate themselves from the middle of the pack in the Big 12 and become legitimate playoff contenders within the national championship picture. The Wildcats finished the last season ranked 38th in the country as far as scoring offense is concerned as they averaged scoring 33.2 points per game. The Wildcats did well defensively as well, finishing the season ranked 31st overall in points allowed during the 2013 season, allowing just 22.9 points per game.

Stephen F Austin would love to get out of the game against Kansas State with a victory, but the Wildcats are not going to let that happen. Thw Wildcats take this victory by a score of 38-17.
