Steve BallmerOn Monday, new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Ballmer, was introduced to the team’s fans at a rally on Monday to usher in the new era of ownership for the franchise.

To say that Ballmer, was excited couldn’t be more of an understatement.

Ballmer yelled, and cheered until he was nearly hoarse during the event after coming through the crowd being introduced by Eminem’s Lose Yourself, high fiving and chest bumping almost anyone he could.

The former Microsoft CEO bought the team for a record $2 billion from the Sterling family despite attempts to block the sale through the courts by former owner Donald Sterling, who received a lifetime ban from the NBA for racist remarks released by TMZ earlier in the year.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, joked somewhat at the expense of Ballmer during the rally saying, “Today is about this other guy who just happened to have two billion dollars in his pocket,” Rivers said on stage. “I asked him are you sure it went through and he said, ‘I know my bank account is minus two billion so I know something went through.’ ”

Ballmer dismissed any concerns that he would move the franchise to Seattle proclaiming his love for Los Angeles, saying the team isn’t going anywhere.

Ballmer also told fans what he wanted the teams identity to be.

“We’re going to be bold. Bold means taking chances,” he said. “We’re going to be optimistic. We’re going to be hard-core. Nothing gets in our way, boom! The hard-core Clippers, that’s us.”

Ballmer was full of energy and positive outlooks stating that the Clippers would bring home many NBA championships.

Fans, coaches, and players alike love the energy Ballmer appears to be bringing to the franchise, and he appears to be the antithesis of the ownership reign of Sterling, and that is something to be excited about.
