Kevin LoveConfirming what many people from around the league anticipated, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers have reached a deal in principle that will send the Timberwolves All Star forward Kevin Love to the Cavaliers in exchange for Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins, and a protected 1st round pick in 2015 according to Yahoo Sports.

As part of the deal, Love has agreed to opt out of his 2015 option and resign with the Cavs next summer for a amx deal, around 5 years $120 million.

As per the NBA rule about rookie signings, the trade cannot be confirmed or made official until August 23rd, 30 days after Andrew Wiggins, this years number 1 overall pick, signed his rookie contract with the Cavs.

Love is excited to play with former Olympic teammate Lebron James on a full time basis, and is not put off by the fact that the contract Lebron signed is only a 2 year deal with a player option to return to free agency next summer.

A trade between the Cavs and Timberwolves has looked likely recently, with the aspects of the trade announced today being reported for most of the last couple weeks.

This deal is sure to vault the Cavs into at least being the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, as adding a talent like Love, who’s skills passing, shooting from distance, and crashing the boards are valuable to any team, he compliments Lebron’s game very well.

This trade is also good for the Timberwolves who get a big push forward when it comes to their rebuilding process. The addition of Bennett and Wiggins, the 2013 and 2014 1st overall selections, as well as an additional 1st rounder next year, provide the Timberwolves with a good amount of young talent to help build them into a playoff contender soon.
