UFC Fight Night Features Bader vs Saint Preux

Ovince Saint PreuxBANGOR, ME – The UFC is back at it again Saturday night with a UFC Fight Night in Bangor, Maine with the main even being a light heavyweight bout matching Ryan “Darth” Bader (18-4-0) against Ovince Saint Preux (16-5-0) as both look to move up the light heavyweight rankings.

Both fighters bring a brutal style into the matchup with each being able strikers and wrestlers. Fans won’t be surprised at all if this fight stays up or on the ground as these two fighters have balanced tendencies toward both fighting styles.

Saint Preux tends to work more for submissions once the fight gets to the ground while Bader prefers to wrestle his way into a dominant position to unleash a ground and pound attack.

Fighting out of Knoxville, Tennessee, Saint Preux is undefeated in four UFC fights, but has won his last five fights overall. He won his last fight in an arm-breaking submission over Ryan Jimmo (19-4-0) at UFC 174 in June. The Immokalee, FL native hasn’t lost a fight since losing a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi (35-4-2) at Strikeforce in December of 2011.

Bader fights out of Tempe, AZ and enters the fight on a two-fight win streak having won his UFC 174 fight in a unanimous decision against Rafael Cavalcante (12-5-0, 1 NC). The Reno, NV native has won both of his recent fights by unanimous decision after getting knocked out in the first round last September at a UFC Fight Night by Glover Teixeira.

On the main card Saturday night on Fox Sports 1 will also have Gray Maynard (12-4-1, 1 NC) facing Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson (17-7-0, 1 NC) at 155. Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch (17-7-0) squares off with Brad Tavares (12-3-0) at 185. Seth “Polish Pistola” Bacyznski (18-9-0) battles Alan “Brahma” Jouban at 170. Shawn “The Savage” Jordan (15-6-0) takes on Jack “The Outlaw” May (7-1-0) at 255. Thiago Tavares (22-5-1) matches up with Robbie “Problems” Peralta at 145.

The undercard fights will be on Fox Sports 2 Saturday night with a matchup at 125 between Jussier Formiga (16-3-0) and Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky (18-4-0). Fans will see a women’s matchup between Sara McMann (7-1-0) and Lauren Murphy (8-0-0). Tom “Kong” Watson (16-7-0) is in a 185 matchup with Sam Alvey (23-5-0, 1 NC). A pair of fighters make their UFC debut as Nolan Ticman (4-1-0) faces Frankie Saenz (8-2-0).
