UFC Fight Night Souza-Mousasi Fight Card

hi-res-7b99bb278685f564984bd8a3eb00b0ed_crop_northMASHANTUCKET, Conn. – UFC Fight Night Souza-Mousasi has its’ fight card set for Friday night a middleweight fight between Ronald Souza and Gegard Mousasi as the main event in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The fight card is filled with contenders and recognizable fighters and will all be available to fans on Fox Sports 1.

The Main Card gets started at 8:00 PM Friday night and will be capped off with the main event as the middleweights take the spotlight as the No. 4 contender in the division Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (20-3, 1 NC) matches up with No. 7 Gegard Mousasi (35-4-2) in the main event.

The second of a pair of heavyweight bouts will feature the No. 7 contender Alistair “The Reem” Overeem (37-13, 1 NC) who has been in the news a lot lately since injuring training partner, Jon “Bones” Jones (20-1), forcing him to withdraw from an upcoming UFC and postpone his title fight with Daniel “DC” Cormier (15-0) until January. Overeem will face Ben Rothwell (33-9).

The other heavyweight bout will pit Matt Mitrion (7-3)  in a battle with Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (11-2, 1 NC).

Fans will also be treated to an interesting lightweight fight with Joe “J-Lau” Lauzan (23-10) squaring off against Michael “Maverick” Chiesa (11-1). Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (17-2) is the UFC lightweight champion and will be featured on a Wheaties box coming to stores near you.

Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Nik “The Carny” Lentz (27-6-2, 1 NC) and Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira (18-4, 1 NC).

The first fight on the main card is a flyweight bout that features the No. 5 contender John Morago (14-3) taking on Justin “Tank” Scoggins (9-1).

The Prelims get started at 6:00 PM with a featherweight fight between Sean Soriano (8-1) Chas “The Scrapper” Skelly (12-1).

Then Chris “The Real Deal” Beal (9-0) faces Tateki “Tech” Matsuda (10-5) in a bantamweight bout followed by a middleweight scrap between Rafael “Sapa” Natal (17-6-1) and Chris Camozzi (19-8).

Closing out the Prelims will be a lightweight fight that will see Al “Raging” Iaquinta (8-3-1) take on Rodrigo Damm (12-7).
