James_O_Connor60James O’Connor is amidst a tug of war between the Reds and Toulon with both claiming he would play for their squad upon returning from the World Cup.

Last week, the Australian international said he would join the Reds for the Super Rugby season of 2015, with the idea of winning a spot on the squad for the World Cup of 2015.

He is supposed to join the Reds at the end of 2014 after playing with Toulon for only a half season. He joined the club during the offseason.

On the announcement of his arrival, the Reds said they had agreed to a deal for two-years with O’Connor, who is just 24. That deal would keep him playing in Australia until the 2016 season ends.

However, Toulon insists that O’Connor already had signed a contract for three years with them, which had a clause that allowed him to make a return to Australia for just six months, but only in an attempt to earn a spot for the World Cup.

Mourad Boudjellal the President of Toulon said he was confident that he would get the Australian player back following the end of the World Cup.

Jim Carmichael the CEO at Queensland has other ideas and he expects that O’Connor would remain with his franchise after next year’s showpiece event is held in England.

Carmichael said that with all parties best interest at hand, it is not correct to discuss any details of a contract a player has.

However, he said he was satisfied that the signed agreement that is in the best interests of the Reds, the QRU, James O’Connor and Australian Rugby.

What was important said Carmichael was to give O’Connor his best opportunity to reach the agreed upon objectives when he becomes a part of the Reds.
