Washington vs Hawaii Preview

on

WashingtonThe University of Washington Huskies are set to open up the season against the University of Hawaii Warriors in both teams kickoff to the 2014 season. The Huskies and Warriors are both looking to start their season off with a victory.

The Huskies enter the 2014 season ranked number 25 in the country after playing to a 9-4 record within the PAC 12 last season, achieving an in conference record of 5 wins and 4 losses, while also winning just 1 of the 4 games that they played against the top 25 from last year. The Warriors, on the other hand, had a terrible season last year, in which they managed just 1 win on the season, losing all 8 games that they played within the Mountain West last year as well as both teams that they played against the FBS top 25.

The Huskies are looking to improve on their performance from last season and prove that they deserve to be ranked within the top 25 this season. The Huskies finished the 2013 season by playing to having the 19th overall ranked scoring offense in the FBS, scoring an average of 37.9 points per game. Defensively, the Huskies also enjoyed some success, finishing the season ranked 29th in the FBS, allowing an average of 22.8 points per game.

The Warriors are hoping to rebound from a terrible season last year, and in order to do so will need to experience a significant turnaround on offense and defense. Hawaii needs less improvement offensively, as last season they finished the year ranked 73rd overall in scoring offense, averaging 27.4 point per game. The biggest need is on the defensive side of the ball as the Warriors averaged allowing 38.8 points per game ranking 116th in the FBS.

The Huskies should get the season opening win on the road, getting the victory 52-13.
