Wofford vs Georgia Tech Preview

on

Georgia TechThe Wofford Terriers are set to open up the upcoming football season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.

The Terriers are coming into this season after finishing last season with a 5-6 overall record, finishing 4-4 in the Southern conference in the FCS. Gerogia Tech finished last season with a 7-6 overall record, winning 5 of the 8 games the the Yellow Jackets played in the ACC. Tech finished the year 0-2 against teams ranked in the FBS top 25.

Wofford enters the 2014 campaign looking to improve upon their mediocre record last year within the FCS. The Terriers look to start the season with a victory against an FBS opponent, doing so would send a signal to the rest of the FCS subdivision that Wofford is a team on the rise, and capable of being a very real threat in the FCS.

Georgia Tech is looking to improve upon their somewhat mediocre record within the ACC, and their overall record. The Jackets enjoyed a fair amount of statistical success, finishing last season ranked 27th in scoring offense, and 29th in scoring defense, along with having the 6th rated rush offense in the country. Despite the success on the ground, the Jackets passing game was not able to carry the team to success against some of the FBS’ more elite competition.

Both teams want to start the season with a win, with Wofford looking to send a message, and Gerogia Tech looking to enjoy some improvement over last season.

Georgia Tech’s high powered offensive game, especially their persistent and strong rushing attack, will be too difficult for Wofford to overcome. The Jackets will take this one decisively, 42-14 in a season opening victory.
