Adam Jones Signs with Cardiff Blues


adam jonesAdam Jones the Wales international found himself a new place to call home by signing with the Cardiff Blues.

The veteran front row had not had a team since last season, when his contract with the Ospreys ended.

A handful of clubs were linked with Jones, including Sale Sharks and Bristol in England, and big spenders Toulon and Lyon in the Top 14.

However, Cardiff released a photo of the squad for the season with Jones sitting in the front row. The Ospreys also confirmed that he left them for another region.

The exact details over Jones’ move have not been released with the Blues at this time at odds with the Rugby Union in Wales because over Sam Warburton the Wales captain.

At Cardiff, Jones joins front row teammates at Wales Matthew Rees and Gethin Jenkins, with whom the three have won two Grand Slams. They also started for the British Lions in 2009.

Meanwhile, the Ospreys have announced their disappointment over the decision made by Jones, having been negotiating over a deal with him the past 2 years.

Jones explained through a statement that the ambition of the club moving forward was a big part of why he joined the region. He called it a new challenge in his career.

At this point of my career, a new environment is just what is needed to really push myself, said Jones.

He expressed now impressed he was by the set up the Blues had and the desire of achieving things over the upcoming years under Mark Hammett’s leadership. He added that it was that potential and ambition for success in the future that excited him about making the move.

Jones also thanked everyone with the Ospreys from the coaches to the players and all the supporters who were always great with him. He said he wished the region all the success in their future.
