Alex Boone Will Get Reworked Contact end Holdout


alex booneSan Francisco guard Alex Boone will end his holdout and report to the team with 24 hours with a reworked contract in hand. Boone will land a new two-year deal to replace his old contract, with an increase in salary and incentives if he reaches the Pro Bowl. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Boone has started every game for the 49ers over the past two seasons. Boone originally was scheduled to make up to $4 million over the next two seasons under his previous deal.

Boone’s total pay will jump from $3.7 million to $6 million over the next two seasons

Boone had held out the entire summer over his deal and was fined by the team for his absnece. In the new deal are the clauses that the 49ers can’t franchise tag the 27-year-old Boone after the 2015 season and, according to Bleacher Report, that all of his fines for holding out have been rescinded.

The 49ers have been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. Earlier today we reported that Ray McDonald was arrested for domestic abuse. On Friday, 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith learned he was suspended for the first nine games of the season.

The 49ers open their regular season traveling to Dallas to face the Cowboys on Sunday Sept 7 .
