Arizona Cardinals Linebacker John Abraham Apologizes For DUI

NFL NewsArizona Cardinals linebacker John Abraham apologized for his DUI back in June. Abrahma released a statement through the Cardinals organization.

The following statement marks the first comment from Abraham since he was charged:

“First, I want to apologize to my family and friends, the Cardinals organization, my teammates and the fans for letting them down,” Abraham said in the statement. “I understand the significance of my actions and right now I am taking the necessary steps to handle my personal business. I am very thankful for the support from my family, friends and especially the Cardinals organization during this time in my life. I am looking forward to being back with my teammates in the near future.”

Abraham has not yet reported to Cardinals training camp, with Friday marking the 6th practice he has not attended since camp began.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said that the linebacker will be reporting for camp in about 5 or 6 days.

Abraham, who is the NFL’s active sack leader, according to ESPN, with 133.5 was found passed out behind the wheel of his black Dodge Challenger at an intersection in an Atlanta suburb after leaving the Pink Pony strip club at around 4 pm.

The linebacker told police that he had only had two drinks while at the club and that he had called for a friend to pick him up, but the friend never arrived. Abraham went on to fail a series of sobriety tests as well as refusing to be breathalyzed.

The officer took Abraham’s South Carolina issued driver’s license, which had been suspended.
