Bob Melvin isn’t Happy With Oakland A’s Play

Bob MelvinThe Oakland A’s were pretty much humiliated this weekend the Los Angeles Angels , losing the 4 game series finale 8-1 yesterday. After leading the American League West for most of the year the A’s now find themselves five games behind the Angels heading into September. Seemingly the trade that brought Jon Lester to the west coast to anchor the pitching staff hasn’t really had the effect Billy Beane was looking for.

Leading the American League in runs scored, the A’s managed only to rank 20th in August. Remember Yoenis Cespedes ?  Some dont believe its the loss of Cespedes, and everyone has a right to be wrong, but…

The A’s went scoreless for 29 straight innings at one point this weekend, in a series that lasted 37 total innings.

For A’s skipper Bob Melvin, well its clear he has had enough.

What can you say? It was embarrassing. Pathetic. We don’t play like that. The last three games here are the worst I’ve seen this team play in… I can’t remember how long. I feel bad for our fans to have to watch that . . . The reason I’m upset is because that’s not who we are. That’s not who we’ve been for three years. And for the last… I don’t know how long, it’s mounted. It’s been frustrating. But that last three games for us is just not who we are. At all. And it’s embarrassing. They all should be embarrassed.

I’m done. Thank you.

No Bob not quite done, but getting close.
