Chris Paul: “Unacceptable” if Donald Sterling is Still the Owner

Clippers RumorsDonald Sterling may be filing lawsuits daily in an effort to keep the Los Angeles Clippers, but as far as point guard Chris Paul is concerned it’s “unacceptable” if Sterling is still the owner of the team when the season begins, and he may be ready to sit out if Sterling maintains control of the team.

Head Coach Doc Rivers is on record as not wanting to return if Sterling is in place.

“That’s something me and Doc are both talking about,” Paul said Thursday after coaching his AAU program, CP3. “Something has to happen, and something needs to happen soon — sooner rather than later.”

“We’re all going to talk about it,” Paul said. “We’re all definitely going to talk about it. Doc, Blake Griffin.  DJ (DeAndre Jordan) It’s unacceptable.”

While team official including Interim Clippers CEO Dick Parsons doesn’t think that will happen the possibility is real.

At issue in court is whether Sterling’s wife, Shelly, acted properly in selling the franchise without his consent. She agreed to a deal with ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for a record $2 billion.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday and the outcome may become clearer or it could become more complicated than ever, depending the what the judge rules.

The original purchase agreement called for the sale to close by July 15 — with an extension until Aug. 15. NBA camps are scheduled to open in early October.
