Duke vs Elon preview

Elon is set to open up the 2014 season on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium as they are set to play against the Duke Blue Devils in a game that both squads want to win in order to start the season off on the right foot.

Elon, who play in the CAA, a conference within the FCS subdivision, finished last year with a abysmal record of 2-10, winning only 1 game within the conference.

The Duke Blue Devils, on the other hand, are coming off what could only be described as a resurgent season when the Blue Devils emerged as a legitimate threat within the tough Atlantic Coast Conference of the FBS subdivision. The Devils finished the season with a record of 10-4, playing to a record of 6-2 with the ACC, a significant improvement over recent years.

Elon is looking to improve from a simply terrible season where, even within the FCS, Elon struggled mightily to get any kind of a win, only managing to scrounge up 2 on the season. A win over the Blue Devils would do wonders for Elon’s confidence, and may be a able to spark them to further success on the year.

The Blue Devils are looking to prove that last year wasn’t just a freak occurrence, that they¬†belong among the upper echelon of teams within the ACC. In order to do so, the Blue devils hope to at least post the a similar record to last season, if not a better one, and beating Elon would give Duke the start to the season that they want.

Elon would love to pull off the upset, but they are certainly going to fall short against the Blue Devils, whose offense will simply be too much for Elon to overcome. Blue Devils win 48-14.
