Florida State Tops Preseason Coaches Football Poll


FSU  Football The Florida State University football program, winners of the 2013-2014 BCS National championship, find themselves at the top of the Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Seminoles, led by Heisman Trophy winner, quarterback Jameis Winston, got 56 of a possible 62 1st place votes on the preseason ballot.

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher had this to say, “We’re very excited about being No. 1 and happy to be No. 1, but we understand that we have to play like No. 1 and play great football,” he continued, “That’s going to be our objective. We’re proud to start there and now we just have to go play great football.”

Rounding out the rest of the top 5 are the Alabama Crimson Tide at number 2, Oklahoma Sooners at number 3, Oregon Ducks at number 4, and the Auburn Tigers at number 5, who lost to FSU in the BCS national championship game.

The remainder of the top 10 includes the Ohio State Buckeyes, the UCLA Bruins, the Michigan State Spartans, The South Carolina Gamecocks, and the Baylor Bears, at numbers 6, 7 , 8, 9, and 10 respectively.

Through the overall poll, the SEC leads the way with 7 teams features in the top 25. The next closest conference is the PAC 12 with 6 teams, and then the Big 12 and Big 10, each conference with 4 teams in the top 25.

At the end of the this regular season, college football will run through its newly implemented, 4 team, College Football Playoff, with the championship game being held in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

With the poll being released, that can only mean one thing, college football is just around the corner, and I couldn’t be more excited for kickoff.
