The University of Idaho Vandals are slated to take on the University of Florida Gators on Saturday in what will be the opening game of the 2014 season for both squads, both of whom are seeking a season opening victory.

The Vandals finished last season with a poor record of 1-11 while playing within the , which includes 2 losses that the suffered at the hands of the top 25 teams within the FBS. The Florida Gators also suffered a less than stellar season last year, finishing with a record of 4-8, losing 5 of the 8 games that they played within the South Eastern Conference. Idaho had one of the worst seasons in the FBS last season on both sides of the ball, where they ranked 118th in the FBS in scoring offense , as they were only able to score an average of 18.2 points per game. They were even worse on the other side of the ball, finishing the season ranked 126th in the FBS in scoring defense, allowing an average of 46.8 points per game. If the Vandals wants to things around, they will have to improve on both sides of the ball.

The Gators, on the other hand, suffered one of the worst seasons that the Gators have played to in recent memory where they struggled primarily offensively. The Gators finished 114th overall in the FBS in total scoring offense as they only managed to score an average of 18.8 points per game. The Gators still stood out on defense, allowing just an average of 21.1 points per game, good enough for the 15th overall ranking in scoring defense.

The Gators should be able to get the victory in this season opener in what may be the first step to a bounce back year for the Gators.

Gators get this one in the Swamp 31-10.
