Michael Vick: Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice Needs To Back Words With Actions

ray riceMichael Vick, expected to be the backup quarterback behind Geno Smith this year for the New York Jets, told that Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice needs to back up his words with actions in order to fully repair his public image after a domestic violence incident earlier this year.

Vick, who has battled to improve and maintain his public image ever since his conviction on charges of dog fighting in 2007, has become a major advocate for animal welfare since his release and return to the NFL.

“You’ve got to continue to make amends,” Vick told “Once you start something, you can never go back. I feel like I’ve become an advocate of animal welfare, and I think I have to continue that.”

“It’s all about keeping kids 15 years from now from doing the same. We’ve saved a lot of kids, and we’ve saved a lot of animals. That’s how I feel. Ray will make it right. He’ll do everything he can to make this situation whole again,” Vick continued.

At a press conference last month in order to address questions about the 2 game suspension that the NFL issued as a result of the domestic violence incident, Rice said he plans on becoming an “ambassador” against domestic violence.

“I think the most important thing that you can do is to try to make amends for what you’ve done,” Vick told the website. “I think you have to show people that you’re trying to help yourself and bring awareness to that situation to help others, to prevent it. You’ve got to become an advocate.”

Vick, despised around the league after his release, worked hard with the Philadelphia Eagles organization and the Humane Societyin order to help rebuild his public image and earned the respect of fans around the league again.
