New York Giants Kick Off Preseason With Win

NFL NewsSunday night, the New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills in the Hall of Fame game, the first preseason game of the year, officially marking the return of the NFL.

Now, of course, it is only the first preseason game of the year, so most regular starters saw no, if any playing time. Eli Manning did, however, play 3 series, going 6-7 for 48 yards, with a lost fumble. Eli Manning stated following the game that he is still adjusting to the Giants new offense.

The Giants did still have a couple of notable performances.

4th round pick out of Boston College, Andre Williams, had 7 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown, giving the nation a glimpse of the nation’s leading college rusher, with 2177 yards last season. Williams had this to say about his performance, “”It gives me confidence. I feel like I’m supposed to be here,” said Williams. “I’m part of the team now.”

Williams way have a bigger role with running back David Wilson out with his second neck injury in less than a year.

Buffalo QB EJ Manuel did not look very good in his 2 series, completing only 2 passes for 19 yards, while also nearly having the ball intercepted.

Although there were certainly mistakes made on both sides of the ball, it is only the first preseason game of the year, mistakes are meant to be made this time of year.

Though it is likely not representative of how either team will perform once the games matter in the regular season, it is nice having these preseason games to get fans excited for football season to get back underway.

The 2014-2015 football season is now one step closer to kicking off, and football fans everywhere couldn’t be more ready.
