SMU vs Baylor Week 1: College Football Preview

BaylorThe SMU Mustangs are set to take a trip to Mclane Stadium in Waco Texas to face off against the number 10 ranked team in the country, the Baylor Bears, in a game both teams want to win to start their respective seasons.

The Mustangs finished 2013 with an overall record of 5 wins and 7 losses, while also going 4-4 with the American Conference of the FBS subdivision. SMU also lost both of the contests that they played against competition within the top 25 from last season. Meanwhile, the Bears are set to enter the 2014 season after finishing the year with a record of 11-2 winning 8 of the 9 total games that the Bears played within the Big 12 conference. The Bears finished the season with 2 wins and 2 losses against teams ranked in the top 25.

The Mustangs are hoping to improve on their record from last season and become legitimate contenders within the American conference as they hope to recapture some of the glory from the days of the SMU Mustangs before they were issued the death penalty for NCAA rules violations. A victory on the road over the number 10 ranked team in he country would do incredible things to boost the Mustangs season.

The Bears, on the other hand, are set to begin their season with aspirations toward the post season. Entering the season ranked at number 10, the Bears are hoping to achieve great things this season looking, at the minimum, to win a Big 12 title, and hopefully play their way into the inaugural College Football Playoffs this season. The Bears will need to beat SMU if they want to keep themselves in the championship picture.

The Mustangs would love to beat the Bears in Waco, but that simply won’t happen. The number 10 Bears will take this one 42-10
