Southern University vs Louisiana Lafayette Preview



The Southern University Jaguars are scheduled to open up their 2014 campaign against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, as both teams are looking to open the year with a season opening victory.

The Jaguars are set to open up 2014 after playing to a record of 9-4, also earning a 7-2 record within the SWAC conference of the FCS subdivision. Lining up on the other side of the ball are the Ragin’ Cajuns who played last season to a record of 9-4 overall, as well as a record of 5-2 within the Sun Belt conference of the FBS subdivision.

The Jaguars are looking to continue the success they enjoyed last season and are hoping to continue to be a force to be reckoned with as they play in the SWAC, and maybe even genuinely compete for an FCS title. Beating the Ragin’ Cajun would help the Jaguars get off to a strong start in the season, setting them on the path to a good season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns on the other hand, are looking to continue the success that they enjoyed within the the Sun Belt Conference and continue to improve and become a team that not even teams in the power 5 conferences can’t overlook. The Cajuns finished last season with a decent defense, finishing ranked 63rd overall in the FBS scoring defense rankings, as they allowed an average of 26.5 points per game. Offensively, the Cajuns enjoyed more success, finished the season ranked 35th overall in the FBS rankings as far as scoring offense is concerned, scoring an average 33.8 points per game.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are going to be in a decent game this Saturday, as the Jaguars will certainly give ULL a run for their money. The Cajuns will take this one at home, winning 41-20
