Wycliff Palu and Adam Ashley-Cooper Out Versus Pumas

Wycliff PaluAustralia has learned it will be without the services of two of its key players in the clash on Saturday against Argentina. The club learned that Wycliff Palu and Adam Ashley-Cooper would miss the match against Argentina on the weekend. This past weekend Australia barely scrapped by with a win 24-23 against South Africa.

The versatile back Ashley-Cooper, who returned to the wing this past weekend, after starting in the centres earlier in the Rugby Championship, has suffered a nerve compression, while Palu was knocked for a concussion and has symptoms that will not allow him to play.

The Reds Jake Schatz has been called up as a cover for the players. Ewen McKenzie as of yet has not named who will be the replacement for the injured Ashley-Cooper, with Joe Tomane and Peter Betham being the current front runners to do so.

There is one thing that is certain, Henry Speight will not be the replacement who would be coming in for his debut with the Wallabies, as the winger, born in Fiji, is currently sidelined himself with an injury to his hamstring.

McKenzie in a press conference said he was disappointed to lose two of his experienced members of the squad prior to what will be one of the most important games of the tournament versus a tough Argentina.

However, added McKenzie, this year the team has taken an approach that is proactive making decisions early around guys that have been playing with injuries which once again is the case in this situation.

As it is always with sport, the guy that is next in line now is the guy who will get his chance to step in and take full advantage of an opportunity he might have had if not for the misfortune of another player being hurt.
